To delete all the photos from your memory card use the Format feature instead of the Delete All feature. *
When you wish to erase/delete old photos from a memory card that you have already downloaded to your computer and created a back-up disk (CD/DVD/Blu-ray), it is best to use the “Format Memory Card” feature instead of the “Delete All” feature. This will clear all the information from the card so you can start off with new photos. It also will do this a lot faster than having your camera delete each photo.
All memory card maintenance actions should be done in the camera that took the photos, not by your computer. When you do actions with the computer to a memory card it has a tendency to leave unwanted information on the memory card.
You might have noticed that when you first started to use your memory card you could save 300 images and now you are only able to storage 275. This is caused by that unwanted information being on the card. That is why when you Format a memory card “All information is erased and the card now can save the original amount of photos (300)”.
*Warning: When a memory card’s photos are deleted or memory card formatted, those photos are gone. So only delete photos after backing them up on your computer and creating a portable backup disk (i.e. CD/DVD/Blu-ray).
