Digital Photo Tips by Duane Brovan

Always Burn a CD

Tip 1: Always burn a CD of your recent digital photos, and don’t clear our memory card until the CD is written and is opened and you are sure your photos were successfully recorded on CD.

This lesson came to me in a hard way. I had my first digital camera for about two weeks and just spent the morning taking photos prior to going to work. I was in a hurry to get to work so I downloaded my photos and cleared my memory. All day at work I was excited to see my photos, I get home and try to find my photos, they were not anywhere to be found! The computer eat them or they are now floating in cyber space. That is when I started to make a CD of my recent downloaded photos. Since then I don’t know how many times I was thankful for still having the original to fall back on after I made too many changes and had to start my photo adjustments and manipulations all over again.

One of the neatest things I just have purchased for my digital photography is a Portable Card Reader/CD Burner. I just put the full memory card into the reader/burner and a blank CD disk and hit record. It downloads and records onto a CD my photo files (in original form). I don’t have to worry anymore about felling up my memory card and not being able to take photos or start deleting them to make room for more photos. I was able to find three different brands of Reader/Burners. Here are links to their web pages:
